Monica R. Harris was born in Angeles City, Philippines and raised in Fort Worth, TX. She earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts from Loyola University New Orleans and is a SAG-Eligible actor who directs, sings, and writes independently while serving as a company actor, director, and PR/Press Development Coordinator for Cripple Creek Theatre Company. Her additional affiliations include: Gambit Weekly’s Big Easy Awards Committee (2011), Reader for Southern Rep’s Ruby Prize Scholarship Contest (2011-2012), Southern Rep’s New Play Bacchanal Committee (2012), and Contributing Writer for invadeNOLA.com and Feet First Stores, Inc.
Monica’s love for Cripple Creek began with her first role with the company as Petra Stockmann in An Enemy of the People (2008). Her company directorial debut, This Property is Condemned, was featured in the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival (2010). She was nominated for “Best Supporting Actress in a Musical” by the Ambie Awards Committee for her turn as Lucy Brown in the AllWays Lounge smash, Threepenny Opera (2010). Monica has also appeared as Ma Ubu in UBU ROI and UBU COCU, led the revolution against God in Marisol (2011) as Angel, then the rebellion of Spartan women as Lampito in Lysistrata (2012).
Most recently, she created a dramaturgical blog while assistant directing Robert Patrick’s Michelangelo’s Models with Clove Productions at Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts (http://mikesmodels.tumblr.com) and served as Actor and Marketing Director in Cripple Creek’s critically acclaimed co-production with The NOLA Project, Lanford Wilson’s Balm in Gilead. Monica will be the Assistant Director and Public Relations Coordinator for Theatre Louisiane’s January 2013 thriller, Lanie Robertson’s The Insanity of Mary Girard: A Dream in One Act in January 2013, and be sure to catch her as Ariyel in The NOLA Project’s March 2013 production of Gabrielle Reisman’s CATCH THE WALL!
